Dad and Pop
This book was written by Kelly Bennett. It was published by Candlewick Press in 2010. This book tells the adventures that a little girl has with her two fathers. She conveniently named one Dad and one Pop. This story would be ideal to use in a primary classroom. The pictures are very detailed and the language is perfect for beginning readers. I would highly recommend this book to be used with children who have a hard time understanding how different family structures are similar to their own.

I think it's important for students to understand non-traditional family structures at a young age. More and more students are living in homes with one parent or two parents of the same gender and there has to be an understanding of those situations at a young age.
